A call to preserve the serenity of Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville.
29 MAY / 11 JUNE 2026: The Rector of Holy Trinity Monastery and Seminary, His Grace Bishop Luke of Syracuse, has implored the clergy and faithful of the Diocese of Great Britain and Western Europe, together will all pious children of the Church, to pray to Almighty God for the protection of the Monastery and Seminary from the intrusions of a large energy company that seeks to surround the historic sanctuary of Orthodox prayer with enormous wind farms that will both destroy its serene landscape as well as bring noise and commercial traffic into its environs.
The project, as currently proposed by Terra-Gen Energy, will span an approximately 75,000-acre area with a preliminary layout of 74 wind turbines. The expansive nature of the project, and the huge constructions it would require, would seriously blight the future of the Monastery, which is itself a National Historic Site registered on the National Register of Historic Places in the USA.
Fortunately, the project requires permits to be granted from the Office of Renewable Energy Siting and Electric Transmission (ORES) before it can be undertaken — and this means there is a chance for each member of the Church to be of direct assistance by writing to those who might help deny the granting of such permits.
Vladyka Luke appeals: ‚We ask all of you to pray for success in the struggle to preserve the monastery and seminary from this intrusion into the natural beauty of its surroundings, its effect on the spiritual life of the community, and the negative impression it will have on the many pilgrims seeking solace there.‘

- Send letters to the local assemblyman for the region, Robert Smullen (District 118), and state senator, Mark Waslczyk (District 49), expressing your opposition to the project and its impact on Holy Trinity Monastery. Even though faithful from this Diocese live far from New York, we have relied for generations on the spiritual formation provided to clergy and monastics that serve here, via the Jordanville Monastery. You can express to these politicians how the preservation of the Monastery and Seminary is truly a ‚global project‘, since its influence reaches all across the Orthodox world.
